From my college years around 1992 and forward my whole world was mostly about expressing photography. The ambitions as a painter and illustrator from early childhood was dropped and abandoned in the moment when I had my first encounter with the darkroom magic. And I did not see it coming back ever... In the fall of 2004 a spontaneous meeting and a coffee with a art dealer in Stockholm "accidently" opened up a new career for me as a print artist. During a conversation about pop art and Andy Warhol the art dealer suggested that I should try to do signed and numbered popart edition prints. After a few more meetings and 6 months of preparations my first portfolio with three variations of the well known Marilyn Monroe theme was introduced by the art dealer. The variations on Marilyn used the same iconic photograph as a start but I added my own patterns and colours. The Marilyn prints proved them selves to be more likeable than expected and I made new series of Marilyn´s and other prints with pop art as the common ground and focal point. From the pop art theme I wanted to move in the direction of creating prints that were more obviously from my own visual visions involving my own photographs. Starting out in 2006 and finishing by May 2007 I created the Manhattan Art Portfolio. The Manhattan Art Portfolio consisted of 12 colourful silkscreen prints created as illustrations based totally on my own photographs. This was a bold, expensive and very risky venture. But once more I proved to have a clue of what the market wanted. The portfolio sold very well. When I was asked to do a follow up to The Manhattan Art Portfolio by a art dealer I tried to do something similar but using Paris as a theme. That did not work out and I had to rethink the whole idea. After a while I came up with the idea of working with London and British heritage and fashion in a series of four prints. The London By Ryan portfolio was created and printed in 2010. The London By Ryan sold even better than any of my previous ones. The London by Ryan portfolio found collectors in both Scandinavia, Russia and Britain. With the London by Ryan portfolio I felt like I had found myself a new language in which I could communicate my visual visions . In the year of 2011 Manhattan in fashion was created in a similar style. A third portfolio came in 2013. The "Mi Sono Perso A Roma" (I´m lost in Rome) the third and last fashion portfolio so far was the hardest one to make. It is by far the boldest and the most detailed and innovative made in this style. With the popularity of my illustrated fashion portfolios I finally earned the art dealers and collectors trust to introduce signed and limited editions of photographs. As they say,- Life is full of surprises... I originally left illustration and painting to do only photography, probably because I felt that I was not able to express anything that was in my opinion good enough. Several years later I suddenly end up doing illustrated limited edition prints based on photography and it is clear to me that all those years away from painting and illustration gave me ideas and perspectives that was good enough to express. A few years after I started with the illustrated prints it is clear to me how doing these prints gained me the credibility as an artist to active with both illustration and photography
